Services/Life Transitions
Life Transitions Therapy — Change is hard. Even the change you choose.
Life transitions surface everything you haven't had space to look at yet. Whether the change was your idea or completely unexpected, navigating it alone is harder than it has to be.
What We're Talking About
Transitions come in every shape and size.
Some transitions are obvious. A divorce, a job loss, a move across the country. Others are quieter but just as disorienting. The moment your kids leave home, the slow realization that the life you built no longer fits, the grief of a relationship ending before you were ready.
What they all have in common is this: they ask you to become someone new before you've had a chance to figure out who that is. That's where therapy comes in.
Loss of relationships
Divorce, breakups, separations, or the slow drift from people who used to define your world. Grief lives here too.
New relationships
Marriage, partnership, blended families, new friendships. Even joyful transitions bring complexity and adjustment.
Career changes
Leaving a job, switching fields, losing a position, or finally pursuing something that actually means something to you.
Identity shifts
Becoming a parent, children leaving home, retiring, or any moment that asks you to redefine who you are.
New realities
Adjusting to illness, loss, disability, or circumstances that permanently change the shape of your daily life.
Reconnecting with yourself
Rediscovering old passions, reclaiming parts of yourself you set aside, or finally asking what you actually want.
Why It's Hard
Transitions don't just change your circumstances. They change your story.
When the structure of your life shifts, everything you thought you knew about yourself gets called into question. Who are you outside of that relationship? That career? That role? These aren't small questions, and they're hard to sit with alone.
What often makes transitions hardest isn't the practical side. It's the loss of identity, the grief for what was, and the uncertainty of what comes next all happening at the same time.
What Our Work Looks Like
This is not just talk therapy.
When we work on life transitions together, we go beyond the surface. Here's what you can expect:
- 01
We name what's actually happening
Transitions often come with emotions that feel contradictory, relief and grief, excitement and terror, clarity and confusion. We create space for all of it without rushing to resolve it.
- 02
We look at the whole picture
How are you sleeping? What are you eating? Who are you leaning on? Transitions affect everything and my goal is for us to learn to pay attention to everything. Your mental health doesn't exist in a silo.
- 03
We work with your story
Using narrative therapy, we'll look at the story you've been telling yourself about this transition and whether that story is serving you. Sometimes the most powerful shift is a reframe.
- 04
We build toward something
The goal isn't just to survive the transition. It's to come out of it with a clearer sense of who you are, what you want, and how you want to live. That takes time and we take it seriously.
Is This For You?
You might be in the right place if...
- You're in the middle of a major change and don't know how to feel about it.
- You've outgrown something: a relationship, a job, a version of yourself and don't know what's next.
- You keep waiting to feel like yourself again and it's not happening.
- You're ready to stop just getting through it and start actually processing it.
- You want someone in your corner who actually gets the complexity of what you're navigating.
- You're holding it together on the outside but privately exhausted.
